Darkland Salyut 7 was something of a surprise discovery for me, just stumbling upon it. I wish it had received a wider attention, This movie feels like it came from nowhere and I lapped it up.

Its a riveting and powerful film about human triumph over adversity. And the Gravity-like visuals really intensify the you-are-there feeling I guess you have to forgive dramatic license-this film used, its dramatizations, rather than a documentary, after all.

Overall this is a great movie. And two days ago I'd never even heard of it. In any case, anybody who enjoyed either Apollo 13 or Gravity will likely really enjoy this film, it's nice to see Russian cinema demonstrating its ability to measure up to Hollywood and give us a different flavor.

Had a great time watching it. Was really pleasantly surprised with the quality and believability of the world created in this film - both in space and in the 70th Russia.

Amazing, breathtaking story and timeless values. Beautiful entertainment that leaves you changed and moved. I wish there was more stories like that portraying real heroes, people capable of such unimaginable courage.

The title says it all. Russians know how to make a space movie based on real events. Its amazing, I have seen people compare this movie with Gravity.

And in my oppinion, for cgi, story, scientific accuracy etc.. I would want to see more movies like this from Russian Cinema.

As a Chinese, reviewing a Russia film on a US web site is interesting. Only these three country have manned spaceflight technology. Comparing "Salyut-7" with "Gravity" or "Interstellar" or "The Martian" is not fair, but "Apollo 13" is Comparable, they're almost as good.

In history, the fire in spaceship didn't happen, two astronauts didn't hammer any sensors, and they didn't smoke or drink vodka in space I guess?

What a miracle! Buttons, circuit, dashboards, water drops, weightlessness, all those details are exquisite. Switch of space and earth scene are appropriate, which make sure a good pushing of the plot.

Two wife characters are important, their acting are impressive too. One of these two astronauts said their colleagues and leaders were not such impulsive or cold-blooded as the movie shows.

In my opinion, the director maybe want to express that the Cold War and long time ideological opposition caused over-intension and some lack of humanity, both in Russia and America.

The cold war ended over 26 years, America still regards Russia as an enemy. Blocking, sanctioning, containing, economic, military, culture, but Russia still hold on there, no winner at last.

Our planet is as small as dust in universe, even a nuclear war on earth won't change anything on moon, we human should be explorer, we born to be explorer, Aerospace Technology represents this romantic and lofty ideal of human being, why can't we just put ideology aside and work together for our common good?

I've seen it accidentally, never heard of that movie before. I must said I did not expected it to be so good.

Very good camera, special effects, SGI, science consulting and so on. You can't really tell where the SGI was used at all.

Very good acting and story. I don't know exactly how close the story was to original events. I assume it had to be a little exaggerated but it's ok for me.

I guess it could be a little shorter for average audience. The only unrealistic scene was Challenger flyby so close to Salyut-7 crew so they can actually see and nomen omen "salute" to the russian cosmonauts.

Too hollywood to me. I found this film thoroughly entertaining. Few films follow the truth so I really don't know if it is accurate.

I think the Ruskies did a fantastic job with this film. Better than the diarrhea that comes from Hollywood. A film who could have many names, from propaganda to biopic.

Significant is the inspired storytelling , the technical work, the performances and nuances and precise build of dramatism.

A film who seems, in many points, better than last space films made USA. Because, it has something defining the characters and situations and tension escaping to demonstration, reminding the essence of humanity.

And this detal represents, sure, for me, in profound subjective perspective, a huge virtue. One of few latest Russian-produced movies, that deserve top credit all around.

Reminded me very much of the Gravity but with much deeper realism. With nice if peculiar Russian flavor. Would strongly recommend to any lovers of space sci-fi.

Based on a true story, the movie delivered well beyond my expectations. It tells the story of the first successful spacewalk repair of an orbiting space station.

The cinematography and acting is excellent and the movie made me sit at the edge of my seat. What started as a routine Russian damage assessment became a fight for survival, hundreds of kilometers above the Earth's surface and with no help forthcoming.

Loved the movie. I was shocked at how good this movie was! The cinematography, the soundtrack!

And, well, the subtitles came in very useful! Awesome movie! Was a little uncertain about this, especially as it was subtitled.

I shouldn't have had any doubts, the film is fantastic. It is almost raw in its delivery, with none of the unnecessary additions Hollywood would have added.

The characters are very believable as the tension mounts. A definite watch. The movie is well-made and it's a great, great movie.

A Russian version of the Apollo 13 movie or even First Man. I don't know why they don't have an english dubbed version on disc?

I think Russian moviemakers have lots to offer in terms of real-life drama that the world needs to know.

Once again, great movie. I've watched it many times but in Russian with english subs. This dramatization of what is essentially the Russian equivalent to "Apollo 13" is one of the best real life space 'adventures' made.

Excellent production qualities, good script and acting and completely plausible effects. As a thriller, it's drier than "Gravity", but fans of "Apollo 13" should be very pleased and satisfied.

Edit: I started writing this about half-way through. When the movie finished I upped the rating another notch, even as the god-awful credits song was playing.

My only criticism is that whoever chose the music was selling something else.
